Sue Briggum

Sue Briggum has been a Director of Government Affairs in the Washington, D.C. office of Waste Management since 1987. Waste Management provides solid, hazardous, and radioactive waste disposal and recycling services for commercial, industrial, municipal and residential customers throughout the United States and 23 foreign countries. Before joining Waste Management, Sue was an environmental regulatory counselor and Superfund litigator with a law firm, where she co-authored the Hazardous Waste Regulation Handbook: A Practical Guide to RCRA and Superfund (Executive Enterprises, Inc., 1982; revised 1986). She has been a member of the Environmental Protection Agency.

Sue Briggum

NACEPT Superfund Advisory Committee, the NACEPT Title VI Implementation Advisory Committee and EPA's National Environmental Justice Advisory Committee, where she served as a member of the Waste and Facility Siting Subcommittee for six years. She also has been a staff member of the Keystone-convened National Commission on Superfund and the President's Export Council.

Sue received her B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh; Ph.D in English Literature from the University of Wisconsin; and J.D. from Harvard University. While at the University of Wisconsin, she was a teaching assistant and lecturer, winning a Distinguished Teaching Award in 1977 and was co-author of three textbooks.
