KEY:
  • CLIs: The purpose of the Community Leaders Institute is to reinforce this principle and to emphasize the unique relationship between environmental protection, human health, environmental justice, and economic development as an essential part of community development. Progress requires informed and active leaders.

  • TAWs: The purpose of this Technical Assistance Workshop is to emphasize essential "how-to" skills needed for preparing and managing a "good" grant application.

  • YLIs: The purpose of the Youth Leadership Institute is to provide an intensive career exploration Academic and professional development opportunity for minority students who are interested in the pursuit of a career in health. This program will also emphasize health information that enables middle and high school students to make critical decisions about healthy lifestyles.

  • Our Health Dialogues: These dialogues feature a skilled moderator, expert panelists, and active and informed studio audiences. While issues on the table are national in scope, the goal is to deliver a program that brings these issues home to South Carolinians in a way that suggests and encourages positive actions and responses.

  • Summits: The goal of the Stroke Summit is to critically examine the facts, identify resources, refine strategies, and mobilize the community to eliminate the disparate toll from hypertension and stroke. These Summits were a collaborative effort in partnership with MUSC's Stroke Belt Eliminiation Initiative.

  • EPIs: The purpose of the Eniviromental Policy Institute is to enhance the South Carolina State University program of active research, policy analysis and community development strategies to address the "unique relationship" between transportation, environmental protection, human health, environmental justice and economic development.
