Living With Risk Series

Overview
The Living With Risk Series traces its origins to this program.

In March 1996, over 100 experts in the technical and scientific aspects of environmental risk convened for the formal presentation of six case studies illustrating productive international approaches to risk assessment and risk management. Presenters from the United Kingdom, Wales, Sweden, Germany, The Netherlands and Australia prepared and delivered case studies, which were videotaped by South Carolina Educational Television (SCETV) and repackaged as part of a 112-page Proceedings Document (ISBN 0-9657650-0-8).

Program partners (The Medical University of South Carolina and AEA Technology of the United Kingdom) and the program's primary funder (The U.S. Department of Energy) agreed that a similar case studies program, far less technical in nature and designed for a community-level audience, was a logical next step in the process. This implied a much different program agenda and a different set of products.
